The DIA has a gallery focused on Japan that they change seasonally, so this April 16th the art and Japanese classes are doing a cross curriculum field trip to see the display. Students can then have the opportunity to explore other galleries of their choosing.
This field trip is free, however we only have enough space for 30 students total. If you are a Japanese student in 8th grade or an established art club member as of the date this slip is handed out, you are eligible to go on this trip. If you are interested you must do the following:
2. Turn in a signed permission slip by March 15th (a copy of the permission slip can be printed here)
We will hold a drawing on March 15th. Any permission slips not turned in by the due date will not be eligible for the drawing. We also need chaperones. If you are interested in being a chaperone please email me ([email protected]) We will assume if your child is not selected in the drawing that you are not interested in chaperoning even if you volunteer. We will contact chaperones by email after the drawing to confirm interest and give more instructions for the day of the fieldtrip.
3. Bring a lunch on April 16th.
The DIA changed policy for school trips is they need advanced notice if we will be purchasing food there. Therefore all students are expected to bring a bag lunch with them on the trip. If you would like a bag lunch provided, please note that on the permission slip.
4. Complete the assignment.
As noted, this is a cross curriculum field trip. An assignment will be handed out to reflect on your experience. There will be elements of analyzing art and Japanese art (even if you are not in Japanese class). You are expected to do your best on all parts of the assignment. If you do not want to do the assignment do not attend the trip.
